Cutting back my rhododendron
Cutting back my rhododendron
Asked on 11 Jul, 2008
Is it ok to cut my rhododendron right back? Its in a large pot on the patio and is very large. We didnt get many flowers on it this year, so I am wondering if I gave it a harsh cutting back it would help it for next year?

If you cut it back you will lose next year's flowers. Much better to follow Wyeboy's advice.

Sounds as though the pot may be getting too small, in which case cutting back will be a waste of time. Is it possible you could plant in the ground and then hard prune and get a new smaller one for your pot?
