Has anyone bought any Tesco compost? Lots of my plants are failing and all of them are in the Tesco compost. Plants in the other composts, ie John Innes, are doing fine. Could be a coincidence but definitely only the Tesco ones are poorly! ( Picture of said compost)

it could be a problem with tescos compost.i always get mine from wyevale

if needs be contact tesco and tell them you are having problems with it.But stand your ground with them , because they might say its your fault.I have had this problem where they reckoned i didnt know what i was on about, so i had a go back at them

I bought 3 big bags - blue sort of colour bag - from tesco to grow some potatoes in bags. They are growing at an amazing rate - I like to think it is my green fingers though and nothing to do with the compost :)

Hope you get your problem solved.

I'm on my 6th bag of Tesco compost at £3 for 2 bags. Small and light, so I can pick them up. So far everything Iv'e used them for seems ok. It looks very much like Westland stuff in a similar sized bag. A peat reduced compost. As its so light in texture I always use water retention crystals, so as not to have to use too much water. When Iv'e complained to customer services about stuff Iv'e bought there there's been no bother, but you can't take compost back!!!!!!

I bought the small bags so I could get them up the stairs for my balcony, bag's green and red, says Tesco multi purpose compost, 20 litre - its RUBBISH! It's all wood pulp and mould - so far I've had a great crop of tiny toadstools and the 2 baby plants I put in it have died. But I shall be writing a blog on compost shortly - I've tried 4 different ones so far, including Arthur Bowyers (terrible) and on current showing, believe it or not, the best one so far has been, wait for it, WICKES! Have used the Tesco rubbish as a mulch on the border.

Thankyou all. And yes, Bamboo, I also have Wickes compost as well as John Innes and everything is fine in that. I agree that the Tesco compost is all bits of wood and little black bits which looked like small plastic tubes but were burnt wood things, I'm so annoyed because, I repotted a bay tree in the tesco, which we had bought it last year in Cornwall and I tended that little plant all year long and from 3 leaves it just grew a new leaf every month and was coming on beautifully. A few days after repotting it, carefully, I might add, its gone all brown and horrible. So has a blackberry shrub,( from Tescos!), a thyme plant, a lily of the valley, sunflowers, strawberries- oh lots of things! and all of them in the tesco stuff -grrr! Sorry to go on! But thankyou everyone, it's nice to know you care.

I think I'd be inclined to make a heavy complaint to Tesco's head office, Mazziestar - if you want back up, I'll tell 'em what I think too, which I can assure you won't be complimentary...

Thanks Bamboo, I'll try and compose a letter but I don't hold out much hope! I'll sure give it a go though.( And by the way, it's the same packaging as yours, green with a large picture of pink roses, 2 for £3.)
