Give it a light trim in early spring to get the best coloured new shoots. But for now just enjoy it. If you have just bought it, plant it in a sheltered spot and allow room around it for the branches to spread out. Keep it well watered all summer, even if it rains. Cut off any shoots that may grow from below the 'head' of the tree or the shape will be spoiled.
