I had a victoria plum tree bought for me last year. I kept it in a large tub for a year. The same with a cherry tree. I've just put both trees into my lawn. The cherry is doing fine with a lot of fruit already. The plum looks as if it's wilting. When I put it in the ground I put chicken pellet manure into the soil first. I water it every day. Does anyone know what's wrong? It has flowered and has fruit growing. Thankyou

Terri

How much chicken pellet fertilizer, Lizziemae? More than a handful or two may have burnt the roots. Also, did the root ball crack when you were getting it out of the tub?

Only a handful of chicken pellets. Root ball seemed fine, not cracked. My daughter in law dug the holes and made sure everything was ok. Thanks for your help

Well the plum tree has taken off. Now the cherry tree sems to have a problem. It's leaves are curling and some are going brown and falling off. Shame, because it was doing so well. Don't quite know whats gone wrong.

well if its heavy with fruit and was replanted it mite be suffering from a bit of droubt . id sink a piece of pipe down to its roots and the other trees while your at it.this way you can water and feed directly the roots . im glad ya other tree is picking up nicley . it was just a guess to take some fruit off of it .it seams that worked out well. anyway if ya cherry is replanted and heavy with fruit is it not worth trying the same thing? eventualy both trees tap roots will find the water table and you wont have to worry so much . take care bye for now xx.
