I have 3 cucumbers growing in the GH and all seemed well until a few days ago.

2 of the 3 went all limp and the leaves just flopped! Ali said they might be too over watered even though the third one is still okay. Went and had a look earlier and the 2 are definitely gone and when I pulled them, they just slid straight out of the earth in the tub with no roots on. It didn't take any effort for them to come out so does that sound like over-watering or something in the soil eating them?

I will plant a few more seeds to try again but any ideas guys 'n gals?

They have quite delicate stems and may have 'damped off' like seedlings do. Try to water from below. Sow some more and they will soon catch up.

volunteer is right they can die very quickly if the water gets on the stems.i usually put a plastic bottle (turned upside down with the bottom cut off )down beside the plants and water into that.
that way the water goes where its needed and not on the stems at all.
never fails.

Excellent. Thanks to you all and I think it was the water after emptying the containers out. Will try a few more tomorrow and see how we go.
