Established Leylandi Brown Patches

What do you recommend for my Leylandi established (30 years) hedge which has developed brown patches.

Yes i watched it on breakfast news this morning, some was very bad, my hedge is ok, but i do know aswell if cats spray on them at the bottom it makes them brown.

Sounds as though it is dying off with age maybe?
