help everybody!!!!!!!

have just ordered a garden shed/summerhouse/potting shed. it is about 75ft from the nearest house.
i say no locks as any doors/buildings would be ruined with attention from a hammer.

mrs webber, hereinafter refered to as veronica says locks, as does not want it burgled. any votes would be appreciated.

Very difficult, MDad. What is more expensive/ personaly valuable to you? A quality summerhouse usualy costs a lot of money and thieves will always find a way to get in, often causing a lot of expensive damage. If the stuff that you keep in the summerhouse is not of great value then I would choose to leave it unlocked and let the vandals in!

If its not locked your insurance won't cover you in case there should ever be a break in. So it probably depends on what you're going to keep in it.

Oops, Bulba, this is more or less what you said - sorry!

What about having it Alarmed so if anyone was to enter it you would know? Just a thought :o)) You could put a lock on it too, for insurance sake.

An alarm sounds good, it usually goes off when the door is opened unless a button is pressed

i know of a very good and very loud caravan alarm that would work, it would go on the inside and has a little control button if you was going in to turn it off. very simple to use as well.

I know where to come if I want to steal an alarm now :-)))

Have to be a very loud alarm to be heard that distance away from inside a property.

Our Summer house is about 75 metres from the house, It is locked but not alarmed. What is the point? We would never hear it.
However there is nothing in there of value either.

Comes down to what you have in there doesn't it? And if you have proper locks and it is all insured then the insurance should cover the damage.

just to reiterate what Bulba has said, it doesn't matter if you have a lock, alarm or nothing, if it targeted then they will find a way in no matter, a simple crowbar would get rid of most shed locks and windows are also vulnerable, i thought alarm would be a good deterrent for thieves because of the noise.
