my foxgloves are being decimated by caterpillers, about 40-50mm long, dark brownie grey in colour with a yellow stripe down either side and only come out at night. i do a 10 o,clock and 11.30 patrol with a torch and have so far got rid of about 60. Help !!!!!!

Most likely to be a moth caterpillar like the yellow underwing which feed on various herbaceous plants. Have no idea what you can do to rid your plants of them except carry on collecting. Sorry.
