I have two palm plants in pots which have always been left out and survived the winters. This year all of their leaves have fallen off. Is there any way back from this or are these now dead.

this last winter was severe, so its quite possible your palms have died, particularly if the pots froze during the cold weather. You don't say which palms they are, so can't give any further advice other than to wait and see if any new growth starts from the top.
