i'm looking for a climbing fruit plant that will happily grow on an east and west facing fence along trellis?

A thornless Blackberry will give you loads of lovely black juicy fruit.

i believe kiwi will do this but you need 2 of them (perhaps 1 each side) so they can polynate each other.

On the east facing wall you could have a peach, plum or cherry which has been fan trained. I think they would all do well on the west wall too. Figs and as Noseypotter says a kiwi depending on where you live. A local nursery would be able to tell you which varieties of any fruit grow well in your area. I believe you can get self fertile kiwis nowadays.They have spectacularly large leaves.
