Nosey means NOT anywhere open and windy, I think, lol! Depends on the Acer though - if you mean one of the smaller, ornamental coloured ones (Acer palmatum types) then they require non alkaline conditions (though neutral soil is fine) with shelter from sun in summer between 11 and 3, or dappled shade, and not exposed to cold windy conditions.
