the leaves are going yellow and falling off also the stems look mouldy,i brought some spray which was reccomended but it doesnt seem to have worked

Sounds like mildew. Check the spray and try again. If the plant is not responding, I would cut it hard back. Honeysuckles do shoot again - hopefully without the mildew!
