Can anyone explain what has happed to Red Robin bush.Gone very leggy and lost a lot of leaves during winter

Mine was elderly and did that. I pruned it in the spring, fed it, and new shoots appeared, but sadly the wind destroyed them. (Sad ending - I removed it!) Try the pruning/feeeding if it's not too old. Is it sheltered? They seem to need that to thrive.
