YOu don't usually prune these at all, except to remove dead stems/growth. If its large, then people sometimes remove all the lower branches. Moving it will be difficult if its more than 5 feet high, it'll have a large, spreading root system - not to mention the danger to skin, eyes, etc, from its sharp barbs, so good luck with that!
