cobbled courtyard

Asked on 24 Jun, 2008

I maintain gardens at a hotel in shropshire and the owners want the cobbled area made safer for people to walk on. They cater for weddings and social functions, so plenty of high heels. The cobbles are part of the listing for this property so cannot be removed. What plants can you suggest to fill in the gaps between the cobbles without losing sight of the stones. I thought of grass but is there a grass that only grows to about 1/2 inch?

Try low growing herbs, thyme etc. it does not mind being walked on!!
