I need to make a path using turf and stepping stones. Should I cut the turf to fit around the stones or would it be easier to lay the turf first then cut out the shapes for the stones?

Lay the turf first, then place the stones on top then cut out and remember to lay the stones slightly lower than the turf so you can run the mower straight over the top. Alot less hastle or possibility of damage to the mower!
