They do regenerate so you can cut it quite hard back if you need to, or else just trim it...up to you.

i only got it last summer barbara and just grown across shed but keeps going under slats and into shed

You probably could, then. Its rootball won't be too large yet. I know it's a bit risky when it's not dormant, but if you had the new hole ready, dug out a large-ish amount of soil round the rootball and watered it well every week, it should be OK.
