We have a pink horse chestnut which is healthy and about 50ft tall. However it has a fully grown trunk which if anything is even healthier, of the white variety, growing almost from the bottom of it. We think this may weaken the pink tree as each season the pink section 's flowers and leaves die off long before the white. we want to cut off the sucker, is it advisable and how can we kill that bit off?
