wild roses

Asked on 14 Jun, 2008

I talked w/ my girlfriend tonight & she asked me to ask you all how to get rid of the wild type rose bush that is wandering everywhere in her new place. The roots have made a mess she says.

Apart from using a strong Brush Killer there isn't an alternative to digging them out. Even if she does kill them first, she still has to dig them out - so I would forget killing them, use gauntlets for protection, cut the bushes back to stumps and dig each one out. After this, there's the dig and more dig, firstly to get the 'spreading' roots out, then to dig in compost and organic matter - well-rotted manure if you can - before she can start planting whatever she wants to replace them with. It's a back-breaking job, but do it gradually and eventually she will see the back of the wild roses.

digging without breaking your back is the answer. I know its a smaller item but I had mint everywhere here and just kept at it for a couple of years and IT GAVE UP not me.
