My friend bought me a raspberry bush for my birthday, and I need to plant it. It is currently 5 canes which are just over a foot above the soil. The instructions say to soak the canes in water for 2 hours. Should I soak the soil and the canes completely, or just soak the tops of the canes? Any other tips gratefully received!!!

I would just soak them in a bucket of water to give them a good 'drink' and then after planting water them in the evening for a couple of weeks until they are settled-in. I hope you get a good crop!
