my lawn is lush green but very spongy i have to have my bosh mower set on 4.5 otherwise the mower drags the grass and i am left with a very ugly brown patch as i work so hard on this area it is very disheartning can anyone help

It sounds like it needs scarifying with a lawn rake to get out all the thatch that builds up over time. It will look awful at first but is well worth the effort and will let the lawn breath.
