Name of a garden tool....Monty Don was using a tool in his raised herb beds and I want one but dont know the name of it. Its got a axe handle and with like a small spade/hoe on it. He was digging a hole with it.

Don't know a name for it, Cookygirl, but we have one with a small hoe at one side and small fork at the other. Every Garden Center has something of this nature.

I didn't see the programme, but it sounds as if you're describing a short handled swan neck hoe, Derek.

try searching for an Azada digging tool. Might be what you are looking for.

If you don't find it searching for "azada" try looking for adze, could be either that or what I've already mentioned, Derek.

Dont buy one of those flat ended things Monty called an Azada, they dont penetrate hard ground.
The one you want is shield shaped.
Contact is 'Green Tiles' West Runton. He has a website.
I have had mine for 25 years, best tool I ever bought.
No need to dig.

Having watched Monty on GW I ordered one of the flat ended ones from ebay a few weeks back.

It's had plenty of use already. I just use it at an angle if I need a pointed edge.

Very useful and I keep it on a potting bench just outside the back door - easier to get to than heading to my garage for the larger tools.

Ive tried looking for hat site Diane but I cant find it....you are right its like a hand held hoe but with a trowel end on it so you can dig rather than hoe....but I cant find one anywhere online. I reckon Monty Don had that one made, Il have to email him LOL!
