Clematis Nelly Moser.
Clematis Nelly Moser.
Asked on 7 Jun, 2008
I've planted a Nelly Moser in a large container with a climbing patio rose and placed it at the front wall of my house. It is near the corner of the house and the Nelly M. looks as if it has had clematis wilt. It's gone all dry and crinkly and the flowers that did open were small and colourless. I'm wondering if I've put it in too windy a situation since it is near the corner of the house, or could it have suffered from dryness due to recent winds ?

Was it also in sun? Nelly Moser prefers some shade

It is on an East facing wall. It gets the sun until about 11 - 11.30 a.m. and then shade for the rest of the day.

Make sure his roots are shaded. Plenty of water.

Sounds more like drought than wilt. Clems really do need a tremendous amount of water when they are in full growth, especially in a windy spot where the leaves lose a lot through transpiration.
