can i cut the top section out on my cordyline as it is about 15 ft tall?

Cordyline will regenerate from the base if the top section is cut off, but I am not sure if this is the case for one which is 15ft. I would not cut it yet anyway as frost damage may not be apparent yet after the frosts.
