i have a large shrub about 1.5mtr high and 1.5myt wide. it grows long green stalks with pointed leaves down the length of it. the stalks are hollow when you cut them. it has a subtle sent of honey. does anyone know what it is.

It sounds like Leycesteria formosa to me - if the flowers are long and deep red, changing to berries in autumn that the birds love.

I agree, it does seem a very likely candidate.

Interestingly, the over ripe berries are incredibly strongly scented of honey too when gently crushed between the fingers.

How do I say thanks?
