cordyline pruning

i have 2 cordylines in pots but they have grew to a point where the leaves are quite long can i prune the leaves back and if so how is this done ie is there a specific angle to cut them on like on other types of plant

PULL them off and pull downwards. Don't cut them. The leaves which are ready to come off will feel 'different' and easier to pull off. However, judging from your fine picture they look like two very happy and healthy plants!! And I'd leave them alone for now.

But I would consider moving those sharp points away from the door way to protect children's eyes. If they can't be moved I would use secateurs to square-off the offending points nearest the doorway.
