can i save my choisya, which has been damaged by heavy snow. two of the lower branches are badly split about 3" from the base . this was a lovely shrub and had grown to about 5 feet high .

Why not try binding up the splits with gaffer tape? You'll need a third hand to help - but you never know - you might be able to save it. Worth a try, anyway.
