When I first glanced at the photo I thought, Ah, 'London Pride', but it's not, is it? I have looked in my RHS book and, although I can't be certain, it might be 'Saxifraga cotyledon'. Very pretty, Blodyn!

It is certainly one of the so called Silver saxifrages. the trouble is there are dozens of very similar forms. The differences are mainly in the number of red dots in the flower! The Saxifrage section to which they belong is Ligulatae. Look it up on the Saxifrage society web page and you will see what I mean!

It could be one of the 'seedling' cultivars. Does it have tiny red dots? You will lose the rosette that's flowering but you should have dozens more to replace it next year if you place it on a large plastic saucer with a 50/50 sand/soil mix. (This plant needs a bigger pot after it's flowered). Good, strong, vigorous and healthy plant - excellent one Blodyn!

This a a beautiful plant!!! I live in Houston, Texas - humid summers, mild warmish winters (freezes in my area are not usually below 28F and not usually not more than 2) would it grow readily here?? I am always looking for unusual flowering plants for my backyard around the pool.

Does it like full sun or shade what is best for it (of course depending on if it will grow here).

Can't wait to hear from someone!!
