Can anyone tell me what tree I should plant for a clay/chalk soil that will give me spring/autumn interest and will grow a max. of 5-7 metres tall? I am looking for one that will be easy to grow.

I planted a Lilac tree a few years ago on my heavy clay soil and it's doing well.
