any ideas on how to rid my lawn of worm casts,i know they do a good job but they are leaving such a mess, my local garden centre has a liquid solution to water on but i am afraid i may harm the worms by using this

Agree with Mg, the only way to stop worm casts is to kill the worms, which is what anything sold to stop this will inevitably do, so just grin and bear it until you can brush them off, Derek.

You can simply brush them off when the grass is dry.
