Hi Sparmannia, you have forgot to upload the picture or state what plant it is :o)

Sparrmania africanus is very tender. Normally only grown as an annual really, but if you want to keep it to flower next May/June then frost free and fairly dry. When it starts flowering then feed every week wirh Baby Bio type liquid feed until September.

It depends on where you live really. In the UK you'd be hard pushed to get one through the Winter outside. In the warmer parts of the UK this has been challenged with success. I personally wouldn't risk leaving mine outside as when the frosts and snow hit a few months later in the February 2009, the Sparmannia;s were struck down to the ground and are recovering but slowly.
I have one in a pot which I leave out during the warmer months, then I bring it in during the Winter if you want to keep it. If you want to grow it as an annual, it won't reach it's potential height, but might flower in one season.

I would feed mine in the Spring before putting it outside again
