What seeds can I sow now that will survive the winter and will flower next year? I've already sown Lupins and Sweetpeas. I have a very basic and flimsy plastic "greenhouse" if that would be any use !

Hi Gaia01 (like the name:-)
A surprising number of garden plants that you can buy as seed can be sown now though of course will remain dormant over the winter. Pretty much any annual that is classed as hardy annual can be. A great plant to sow now that gets many people unfamiliar with it talking when they see it for the first time is Honeywort (Cerinthe major). Sow now in situ for good stocky plants.

Maybe not so much seeds, as bulbs, Gaia01.

My Cerinthe self-seeded at the end of the summer, the new plants have flowered, and some have set the next lot of seed! They certainly usually come though the winter unscathed. :-)

Fractalcan can cerinthe major seeds be sown in seed trays then planted in to flowering position

I didn't, Cliffo - I sowed them where I wanted them to grow! I suppose you could plant them individually in pots - not trays, though - the seeds are big enough for a pot each.

Oooooh Just looked Cerinthe major up in a plant finder......It's stunning. Thanks for suggesting it Fractal. I'd never seen it before and it's just beautiful.

Cliffo - I don't have to sow them any more - they sow themselves!
Yes, Gaia, it is a great plant. You can buy packets of seeds to start them off - then they do it themselves!

Gosh, I'll have to plant a few Cerinthe myself if they're this good.. thanks for the tip Fractal :o)))
