I have some hydrangea cutings on a window that gets the sun in the mornings, they have been there a week and are looking fine, but for the last two days there is a fine whit fuze on top of the compos I have broken the serface of the compos ,but how do I get rid of it befor it gets on the cuttings and rot's them,

right dun that, I thought that it would be you or MG, never had mutch to do with that sort of thing'' frost did most of it for me being a veg mainly man, I could not get the green they said that it had been taken off but yellow is aperantly the same thing thanks agine,

Lordie, can't keep up with the changes all the time! You're right though, yellow sulphur dust does the same job, just doesn't have any dye in it to make it green (apparently).

it could be overly wet too, that would cause the surface mould.

I don't think that they are that wet SBG they are just slightly moist, and it was a verry fine coating, it is just that I realy want these cutings I watch them as if they were babys, but it would have to be water or the moled could not happen thanks.

Sounds like mildew/fungus, doesn't it, Cliffo - I'd be hotfooting to the garden centre for some green sulphur dust and puffing that on top of the soil, I think. Sprays for fungus would probably be too strong for the little cuttings. More airflow might be good, but i realise that's difficult if you're keeping them warm inside
