Seed exchange - where is it?

gilli

By Gilli

British Columbia, Canada Ca

I may be a little air headed but didn't there used to be a bit in the black area at the bottom of the page that said "garden plants" or some such and when you clicked on that you could get to the seed exchange page?
Anyway, I can't find how to get to the seed exchange page. Any tips would be gratefully received. :o)

You're welcome! Want some geranium seeds?? lol.

Never tried geranium from seed. Are they easy or hard? I've got pineapple lily seeds.....?

Easy-peasy. What about yours?

Not too sure Spritz. I have never tried them. Apparently, they take about 5 years before they actually flower when grown from seed. Not sure if you want to wait that long. LOL
I wouldn't mind trying some Geranium though. Hmmmm.....what else have I got to exchange. I'll have to go and look.

There are some details on how to grow them from seed at this website......
www.gardenofeaden.blogspot.com/2009/07/how-to-grow-eucomis-plants-from-seed.html
The seeds are from Eucomis comosa. I think it was 'Sparkling Burgundy' but I'm not 100% sure as I neglected to write the name down.
I also have Polygonum aubertii, Exochorda, Ampelopsis brevipedunculata, Acer x 'Ventura', Gentiana (a few), Asclepias tuberosa, Eupatorium, Cosmos, Calendula, Panicum 'Frosted Explosion', Dianthus 'Heart Attack', Penstemon 'Red Rocks', Coreopsis Grandiflora 'Sunburst', Hardy Hibiscus, Physocarpus opulifolius 'Dart's Gold', Allium fireworks mix, Balsam, Cleome and Polemonium

Gilli, as you live in British Columbia are you subject to import & export laws on this?. I sent some plants to America which were all destroyed by customs. I don't know if this applies to seeds as well, but it was very upsetting for both parties and expensive too.

Gilli - I'd be happy to send you some geranium seeds with no swaps - if I'm allowed to! Please don't worry about finding a swap - it's not a problem! Just PM your details....:-))

As far as I know Drbob, seeds are fine to send through the post. However, no plant material and no bulbs are allowed without a phytosanitary certificate.

Thanks Spritz....I'll PM you.

That's useful to know Gilli, I wondered if seeds were also included in the ban. I know I could have purchased a licence but that was also very expensive.

It is expensive Drbob. That's why most places won't export plants to the US or Canada. It seems a bit silly to me sometimes that you need a cert to even send things 1 mile across the border from Canada to the US when the insects and air bourne spores fly and blow across all the time. We can't even bring fruit or vegetables from the grocery store across.

Well I know they have their reasons but it does seem a shame.

How do I say thanks?
