Hi Faith. I've grown aubergines from seed for the past few years. They are readily available from garden centres and supermarkets. The most common variety offered is "Black Beauty". Aubergine belongs to the potato (Solanum) family, as do chillis, bell peppers and tomatoes, and do best in the Uk in a greenhouse. I think that they need a long growing season and always sow the seed in March, so I think you might be a little too late. You can try, though. Lidl had a pack of seeds for only 29p!!. I could ramble on for quite a bit yet about growing this edible delight!
