Broad Beans

Just a query, i know ive grown broad beans outdoors , but can you grow them in a green house?That is to the height like you would outside?I thought i would try it this way for over the winter months.

ive grown them in spring to get an early crop but not over winter.

You can start them in pots overwinter or even plant them outside in the garden now...

What an interesting idea, There's nothing like tasting your first early Beans. You wouldn't have the problem of preventing them from blowing over, even if they grew very tall. There would br more likelihood of pests but that could be overcome. It may get a bit too hot in Spring but if you have a metal GH you could remove a pane of glass or two. I'll be interested to see how you get on.

I see no reason why they can't be grown in the greenhouse for an early crop but the main problem will be pollination of the flowers. There are few insects around early in the year and even fewer in the greenhouse. You would have to do the deed yourself with a small paintbrush.
