Seriously, as Mg said - aphids do leave a sticky residue...maybe the ladybirds saved your plant by gobbling them up?? Try washing the leaves, if you can - when you can, that is!

thanx barbara i will do that,, wasnt sure if they had a sticky dropplets to help attach themselves to trellis

I don't think so, Sandra??

Nope no sticky droplets to help them attach to trellis, they are twiners. Oh and welcome back from me too!

ok will do morgana :o) just looked and seems to be it, it is defetatly sugar like and sticky, thanx morgana, so the holes could have been something nibbling at that :o)

I found that with my clematis it was little tiny slugs on the leaves, some of my leaves on the purple passiflora one has gone abit yellowy and a few holes, I don't worry as there will be new growth come

11 Oct, 2009

thanx morgana, it may have got nibbled when i put it out in the sun the other day,

11 Oct, 2009

It should be ok now if your keeping it in doors

Good luck - Sabine's grows so fast it is sometimes a challenge to get in through her front door... it is on a trellis by the door and sort of climbs in

bet it looks lovely when in bloom though, they seem very vigarous dont they, this will have white flowers when it eventually flowers
