can u cutback a large pointsetter without hurting it?

Poinsettia's can be pruned bach hard. After flowering I prune my Poinsettia pulcherrima [double red ]by 3/4 of its growth . If you neglect to prune the plant will grow leggy and produce smaller flowers.
