I don't know what SKB is. If they are only 5ft tall, why can't you just saw them off at the base? They wont regrow from the stumps.

Sid you are right, the problem is they do not belong to me,befor the chap who planted them moved in ,it was paved with diferent bushes scatterd about and under a huge lovly bird cherrie which gave it shade for people to sit ,he has filled it not with plants or flowers, but nomes and plywood frogs rideing bikes when the wind blows and those silly little garden lights, the only thing he has planted are the trees' they are infact a nice couple that keep themselfs to themselves, and I realy do not wish to fall out with them, but when I explained what was wrong with planting them were he has' he just stared at me with a glazed look in his eyes, I realy want to simperthies with him and dream up some desease that I am unable to put right,

Its SBK Cliffo's talking about and Cliffo, the only way that works is if you cut them down and treat the stumps - it won't kill the trees if you spray it on the foliage. Not to mention, if the trees are next door's, you're not allowed to touch them in any way, except for cutting back any parts that come over into your garden.

you are also right Bamboo' but it is comunal land and he can plant what he likes, just as I can but what he is doing is craftly trying to make that part private , I do not think anyone wants to be there now because of what he has dun to it so he can have it all to himself, but no one wants a yellow lawrn with them taking all the water as has happend a bit further along, in the end I will cut them down but I want to avoid bad fealing in a place were the nabours are grate including that fool.

When faced with the inevitable, the wise man ,makes use of it.. Buy a book on Gnomes and learn to love plywood frogs.
The only things you can change are your felings about it.

I don't minde what he put there, I have too much to do to bother about what he is doing,I am only concerned about his roots which you know are shallow and will rob other peoples plants of water and netreants, the trees will make wind brakes which we need , but I would rather bie a cane wind brake.

To claim ownership of land or property takes many years of occupation/use and never being challenged about it. So I dont think you need to worry Cliffo. Agricultural land needs permission for change of useage and it may be similar for common land there may be things no one can do on it or plant on it if it changes its structure? Perhaps you could train all the local dogs to use them?

Peel off a circle of bark all the way round the base of the trunk...sshh..do it at night...don't forget the balaclava!!

That could well be deliberate damage and as Bamboo said Volunteer not allowed? Try and negotiate Cliffo these things can so easily get out of proportion.

7 Oct, 2009

Yes, I'm sorry. Peaceful negotiation is probably best....sorry....
