How can I divide a violet pot plant.

I've had this wee plant from M&S for around 3 years now. The flowers are just dying off but on closer inspection I think it needs re-potted, can I do it now or can I divide it and if so do I cut it in 2?

i use any multi purpose compost and just separate the rosettes like heron says.

you need as little and one leaf to propagate. trim back at "stem" and push cut end into compost. do a few leaves to spread your success rate

If it's an African Violet (the dark blue one) then it's easy. We did just that a while back. You just pull away the 'rosettes' and pop them into another pot. We used JI No 2 but I'm sure you could but a small pkt of special compost.
