Can anyone suggest something easy for me to grow in my greenhouse over the winter months. I'm not bothered what it is (flowers , plants or veg) so long as it is easy. I am a complete amateur but I am trying to learn, so any advice would be appreciated. I do have a paraffin heater but the winters in north (Newcastle area) tend to get a bit chilly to say the least. Advice on aftercare would also be appreciated, or should I just lock up the greenhouse and wait until spring. I am just looking for something to fill in my time and give me a bit interest.
Thanks

I always suggest the smaller crocus for late winter colour. Garden centers will still have stock if you can find it amongst the b****y Christmas rubbish.

Yes, pots of bulbs are ideal. Some of the daintier Narcissus (Daffodils) have a lovely scent that is lost outside. Also, Cyclamen do well, try the sorts sold as winter bedding for pots. The extra protection does them good. You could try sowing some winter salads for baby leaves, too.

I planted some Elephant Garlic in good compost in 8 space plastic modules. Put them in my mini- greenhouse - no heating- and they are growing well.
Will put them in the garden in the spring without disturbing the roots.
Primulas enjoy being kept inside during the winter months and flower early, giving a nice display just when you need cheering up in March.
