when is the best time to plant bulbs for spring?
i have just purchased hicynth , tulips and daffodil bulbs. i also have some little plug in dwaf wallflowers. can you advise me on the best times to plant them and how to take care of them through the cold winter months.

I also have been planting for a week or two and hope to be all planted by end of Oct Shellayla.

Get them in now,Shellayla. From August, the sooner the better. They will not need any particular attention to help them through winter in Somerset.

Several people seem to think waiting til November or December is your best bet with tulips. I will try both this year (have already planted some in early Sep)

Your little wallflowers should also be fine outside - unless they are so tiny as to need a few weeks potted up to develop their rootballs a bit more.
I'm in Somerset as well - great county, isn't it!
