You can take a piece about 9" long and plant it into the ground and in time it should root, there must be others on hee who could give you the finer details.

I think you have just about covered it,Lb..maybe in a sheltered place if possible...and don't lift it till at least next year,it will be a while before it makes a decent root system..although you may see some foliage forming..They aren't really difficult,it's more a patience thing...good luck .I did some a few years ago now,and they are as big as the parent now..good luck ...
