can anyone tell me when is the correct time to prune/tidy up Pyracantha, fireglow. I know it shouldn,t be pruned whilst flowering or when the berries are on them, but my husband is itching to " get at it ", so!! when is the correct time, thankyou.

If you are willing to sacrifice the berries ( the birds will soon scoff them, anyway!) then any time over winter would be OK. Just try not to pick a frosty day.The bits can be used to protect crops from rabbits or to stop cats from using the soil as a litter tray! Or bring them indoors for winter decorations. Watch out for the spines, though!

Agree with Volunteer above. Otherwise, the
usual time to prune these is once the flowers appear -you can then make sure you leave some in place to produce berries later.

How do I say thanks?
