How do you keep pets away from poisonous plants?

I want to put some delphiniums into my border but i've heard that they are poisonous to dogs. Any thoughts about how to keep my little guy safe without putting up an ugly barrier?

WE PURCHASED A PRODUCT CALLED "SHOT-GUN, DOG AND CAT REPELLENT GRANUALES".i USED IT TO MAKE MY PETS TO HATE GOING NEAR MY LILLY OF THE VALLEY AREA. IT SEEMS DANGEROUS STUFF . i ONLY HAD TO GET THE POINT ACROSS TO THEM NOW THEY DON'T BOTHER. I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF A MORE ORGANIC PRODUCT . GOOD LUCK

I have both delphiniums and a dog....never had any trouble. Mandy doesn't show any interest in them. Perhaps a pup might dig them up or knock them over but eat them? sounds strange to me.

Henry only eats grass - he never tries any other plants in the garden. I trained him to keep off the flower beds early on, for the plants' sakes, but I don't think that dogs are vegetarians anyway! lol - I wouldn't worry.
