Sun loving plants

I would like a plant for my front porch which receives shade until 4:00 p.m. and then it gets extreme sun and heat for about 3-4 hours. Any suggestions?

I can only come up with Pelargoniums which enjoy the sun. I don't know whether they'd grow in your situation - not being familiar with Idaho!
