Dicksonia protection.

Hi all ! I feel a bit cheeky asking a question after such a long period of not being a active member on here
Does anyone know when I should start protecting my Dicksonia tree fern? Also because its in a pot should I move it to a warmer part of the garden? Thank you!
P.s that brown stuff wrapped around the top was to try and stop the birds/ squirrels pulling it apart lol

I would get it protected asap, we have already had the first frosts in cheshire, and although the forecast is set to get a bit milder, you never know when it will change again, better to be a boy scout than lose the plant,Derek.
