What are these small slug like creatures on my grass at night?

I was out in the garden the other night around dusk and I noticed large numbers of small ( 2c.m.) white slug like creatures. Can you tell me what they are and can they do any harm to my grass. I live in Nairn in the N.E. of Scotland. I could try and get a photograph if that would help. Regards, Peter.

Hi Peter welcome to GoY we are just a wee wy east of you near Brodie. A pix would certainly help but they probably are just small slugs.
So what is your passion in the garden?
