What is the best way to ensure flowers on an aubergine plant are pollinated?

Thanks to Nick for his reply why flowers may be falling off my aubergine plant - but would like to know how best to make sure flowers are pollinated as I don't really want to loose any more flowers

try overhead spraying or tapping the plant to dislodge the pollen I once succeeded with peaches by using a paintbrush to transfer pollen but not sure how aubergines are pollinated ie self or cross
