Thanks to all of you. I was a bit dubious about the reception it might receive but you were incredibly kind and encouraging.
Bamboo expressed her fear for the birds feeding on the patio. I have told her there is nothing to worry about because the dish is only there when I am on guard inside the open window. At other times it is higher up and the bird table is also not far away. In any case, she has learned not to bother about chasing birds in daylight – they are too spry for her. She just sits and wishes. Monday’s woodpecker was a rare exception. She probably figured that this big green stranger might not be so smart. Wrong!

I feed the birds even though I have four cats I just keep watch the birds know when the cat is near as they make such a noise. Smokie and Ollie are the hunters but its been mostly mice this year.I rescue them if I can as I dont like it when the cats tease them.A fishing net and a box of cat biscuits work wonders Ollie falls for it every time not so Smokie she only brings them to me when its to late and then she looks at me as if to say make it work again Mam they can be so cruel cant they but they are still loved.

I feed birds on feeding station and bird table some times I throw the crumbs of bread on my slabs, I have a cat that visits me called bench cat as it sleeps on my bench comes to cadge a drink lol I just tell it no leave and it sits back down. I find the magpies are the ones that kill most birds here as I have found them dead in my garden which the magpies have killed not the cat.
